When browsing through your feed when using the official mobile application of Reddit, you may run into subreddits that you want to block so that you no longer have to view them. These communities may not appeal to you personally or even offend you.

1. To start off, make sure you update the Reddit App on your device if you haven’t done so already.
The ability to block subreddits was added through a recent patch. So, if you have an older release, then you won’t be able to prevent posts from these communities from showing up on the home and popular feeds.
2. After making sure that you have the latest version of the Reddit App downloaded and installed, the nest step you should take is to open it.
3. Next, you need to visit the subreddit that you want to block.
4. On the front page of the subreddit, you then need to tap the three dots icon. You can find it on the top right side of the screen, in between the search bar and the profile icon.
5. In the pop-up menu, select the Mute [current subreddit name].
6. A pop-up menu show then show up from the bottom of the screen. It should show the following message:
“Mute [current subreddit name]. You won’t see posts from [current subreddit name] in your feeds or recommendations anymore.”
Here, you need to select the “Yes, Mute” option.
7. If you get the “Something went wrong. Please try again” error message, then you should make sure that you are signed into your Reddit account in the mobile application.
Afterwards, try to block the subreddit again.
8. Once you have successfully muted the subreddit, you need to close the Reddit App completely for the changes to apply. Otherwise, the home and popular feeds won’t be able to refresh.
9. After you close the mobile application of the social media, you can open it again.
10. The posts from the subreddit you previously blocked should no long appear in the home and popular feeds.
11. You can repeat the previous steps to block other unwanted subreddits. You should be able to mute up to 1000 communities.
